It is steamed once, smashed and crushed, and roasting it before eating enhances its flavor. It is enjoyed along with various dishes like bitter melon pickles and chicken chili, similar to an adult version of a children's lunch. In Nepal, it's often eaten as a light snack (kaja) between lunch and dinner, or as a bite after finishing agricultural work, typically eaten with fingers. It is the perfect snack to nibble on.
